Class Requirements & Preparation

OrientationFirst class is orientation without your dog

What to Bring...

  • Proof of vaccinations
  • Dog with approved training collar (flat, prong, or choke chain)
  • 6ft leash (leather or nylon, 3/4 inch or smaller)
  • Soft training treats (Happy Howie cubes - available at AK9)

What NOT to Bring...

  • Unregistered dog
  • Extend-a-leash or tab leash
  • Head halti or harness (unless approved)
  • Hard compressed treats (biscuits, bones, etc)

⚠️ Dogs showing forward or aggressive behavior must be pre-approved before attending.
Makeup sessions will be added for any weather-related cancellations.

Basic Puppy Group

For puppies 4 - 11.5 months

Obedience Skills

  • Loose leash walking
  • Sit, Down, Wait
  • "Park it" (go-to-bed spot)
  • Leash handling, corrections and timing
  • Reading dog body language

Behavioral Skills

  • Jumping, mouthing, overstimulation
  • Common home issues
  • Mild aggression (trainer-approved only)

Saturdays – Puppy (9:00 AM): 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16

Basic Adult Group

For dogs 12 months and older.

E-Collar Classes

For approved graduates of any Alert K-9 program.

Focus Areas

  • Reinforce prior training
  • Strengthen leash handling
  • Refine timing & intensity
  • Solve recurring behavior challenges

E-Collar Training

  • Hands-on instruction with Dogtra units
  • Learn timing, safety, and proper use
  • Off-leash option (pre-approval required)
